Sydney's one week old today (Friday) and such a cutie!!! Alaura LOVES her soooo much. Sometimes a little too much :) We made our first trip out of the house with all four of us on Monday for Sydney's first check up. When we left the hospital the pediatrician was afraid that Sydney looked like she had Jaundice. But we were able to leave the apt with a clean bill of health. She lost 8 ounces, just like Alaura, but I'm not worried...She LOVES to nurse!!!! So I'm sure she'll put the weight on pretty quickly. Speaking of nursing...my milk came in on Monday (day 3) and I was sooooo engorged. Any one know how to deal with that? I don't remember it being as much of a problem with Alaura.
Today Sydney went with me to get some blood work done. I'm hoping to finally get this Kidney stone taken care of. It's been horrible and I'm so ready to be done. Monday I'm getting a CT scan to see where the stone is and stuff. I have an apt with the urologist on Feb. 12. It's nice to see the end of all of this though.
I'll do another post with my labor and delivery story. It'll be a while before I can refer to it a a "funny story" as Camie called it, but I'm very happy that it's over and Sydney's healthy.
For now I'll try and catch up on the last week.
HOSPITAL
Day 1
Sydney the ghost. This is the first picture we got of her :( After you read the delivery story you'll know why, but we don't have the first few moments of her life, laying on me or getting the cord cut...but that's ok
When she was born the cord wrapped loosely around her neck and this knot was in the cord. Apparently she swam through it and it got tied into a knot. Luckily it didn't cause any harm.
8 Pounds 8 ounces!!!!
Mommy and Sydney
Alaura seeing Sydney for the first time
Mimi and Papa
The baby doll Sydney gave Alaura (she takes it everywhere and even nurses her)
Landon and Amanda. Alaura had a sleepover with them when we checked into the hospital.
Day4
Sydney loves her hands out of her blanket (just like Alaura)
Getting ready for bed
Day 6
Alaura's Olympics stuff from Pre school.
Sydney LOVES to lay in front of the fire place naked or at least with her diaper off
Look who's one week old!!!!

Oh Brooke She's Adorable!!!! And that Hair! I love it! She is so cute and and glad you guys are all healthy and home! (almost healthy get those stones out!)
Take care!
the pictures are so cute. I'm glad that things are going well, it is always so nice when the babies get here and things are going good.,
Brooke! Congratulations...she's so sweet. :) Your pictures are the best! I can't wait to hear how things went...I love birth stories. :) Anyway, as far as engorgement goes, I wasn't as engorged with Hannah as I was with Maizer either and I had to pump to help with it. It does wonders and helps with a little freezer store up for later use anyway. :) So when you are so full and Sydney isn't releasing enough just pump the rest out. :) Take care!
You all look great! Her hair is so cute. I agree with pumping to store the extra in the freezer. To help with the pain of engorgement, send Eric to the store to get a head of cabbage and pull of two leaves. Pound them so the veins crush to let some juices flow and use them on your breasts. Leave them on for a while to let the juice soak in and repeat the process as often as you want to. I know it sounds weird, but the cabbage juice helps with inflammation and it really does feel good and give you relief. Keep the cabbage head in the refrigerator and the coolness of it feels really good too. A day of this process surprisingly helps a lot! Good luck and feel better!
Sydney is REALLY cute! I can definetly tell she's an Olsen. She looks so much like Alaura when she was first born, but she also has her own look. Lots of hair too! Can't wait to see more pics!
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your cute family. Sydney is so pretty.
So stinking cute!!! I can't believe how much Sydney has changed. I want to see them both. I'm so bummed they aren't coming over. Hope your first day alone goes ok and hope Alaura gets better.
She is SO adorable! Congrats again. I can't wait to hear the L&D story. As far as engorgement goes, I have read NOT to pump as it interferes with the supply/demand process and confuses your body on how much milk to make. This can lead to oversupply, which is not good b/c the baby may not get enough hindmilk. You can use a warm compress just before nursing, or a warm shower. The cabbage thing is supposed to work too, although I've never tried it. Anyway, www.kellymom.com is a GREAT bf resource. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of your family and little Sydney. She is so beautiful. I love to see your girls together. I love the family photo! Alaura is going to be a wonderful big sister!
I hope you are feeling better. Some ideas to help with engorgement include wearing supportive bra-even at night, frequent nursing, cold packs after nursing will help soothe pain and reduce swelling, gently massage the breast baby is on, a hot shower and cabbage.(if you put some cabbage leaves inside bra.
Just be careful to not apply alot of heat and to not pump excessivly. Could make engorgement worse.
Hope this helps and enjoy your baby girl. Take care!
Just got updated with your blog. She's a beautiful baby Brooke. I love the bath pictures with her eyes open. I also love all of her dark hair. The pic of the 4 of you in the hospital is darling. You gook great for having just given birth. Congratulations!!!!
i LOVE the picture of her laying naked in front of the fire. so sweet.
she is darling! congratulations. i am so glad you can move forward with getting back to good health now! good luck and keep us posted.
She's so cute. Both of your girls are. As for the engorgement, pump, pump, pump. you will feel better, and have a supply in the freezer for Eric to help feed her with.
